A town built on the end of the canal

When the Illinois and Michigan Canal was finished in 1848, LaSalle became its western terminus and boomed as the place where canal boats met river steamboats. Zinc smelting followed, and the Matthiessen and Hegeler Zinc Works became the largest zinc producer in the country. The Hegeler Carus Mansion still stands in LaSalle. Businesses here carry real history, and a good website should show that history as an asset instead of hiding it behind stock photos. A shop that has been on the same block for decades has a story newer competitors cannot copy.

Proof from a LaSalle business, with the numbers

9th Street Pub has served the Illinois Valley since 1977. Its old WordPress and Elementor site scored 19% on a competing agency's report. We rebuilt it on Mainfolk, our own site platform: 23 WordPress pages became 13 engineered ones, the site now grades 96, an A, and the cutover happened with zero downtime and zero lost posts. It also gained an events calendar and an automated blog the old site never had.

Why migrations go wrong, and how we avoid it

Page builders trap your content inside their own markup, so a careless import throws real pages away as duplicates. Domains sometimes sit in accounts nobody can transfer. We measure the import against the source before anything goes live, redirect every old address, and plan the cutover around your email and certificates, not around our convenience.

Software for the businesses behind the storefronts

Many of the businesses that keep a town running, such as clinics, trades, offices and distributors, never appear on a sign. For them we build intake forms, client portals, quoting tools and AI helpers that read documents, so a front-desk task that eats an hour a day can shrink to a few minutes. Kevin Champlin, Founder & Principal Engineer, directs the work, and AI engineers do the building, which keeps the price in line with a local budget.

What you get

What this looks like in practice

01

Restaurants and taverns

Menus that Google can read, events that people can share and a blog that keeps itself fresh, the way 9th Street Pub's site now works.

02

Heritage and tourism

Pages for tours, museums and lodging that answer the questions a visitor asks before they drive, with directions, hours and booking.

03

Trades and contractors

Service pages by job type, a photo gallery of finished work, and a request form that tells you what the job is before you call back.

04

Clinics and professional offices

Clear services, easy appointment requests and a calm, accessible design that older patients and clients can read.

05

Site migrations

Moving off WordPress and page builders without breaking links, email or search rankings, with a count of what moved and what changed.

06

Reports you can read

A weekly picture of calls, form fills and direction clicks traced back to the marketing behind them, not vanity numbers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What did the 9th Street Pub project actually involve?

A full rebuild of its menu, events, blog and domain cutover onto Mainfolk. We read all 23 pages, 9 posts and 82 media files, measured the import against the source, redirected every old address and added an events calendar and an automated blog. The pub's own case study on our site walks through each step.

Is a 19% to 96% score change typical?

No, and we would not promise it. That site was unusually hollow: its homepage headline lived inside a JavaScript slider and it had no analytics at all. We report what happened on this one project, with the before and after side by side, so you can judge it yourself. Your own site can get its own honest audit first, and the audit is free.

Can you work with a site on a domain we cannot transfer?

Often, yes. The 9th Street Pub registrar account could not be moved on any useful timeline, so we pointed the new site at the existing domain without touching email or certificate renewal. We will tell you in advance what is possible with yours, before you commit to anything.

How long does a LaSalle project take?

Business sites usually launch in two to three weeks from a kickoff call, and every milestone is visible in your Client Portal along the way, not revealed at the end. Larger software builds are scoped separately, with a fixed price you see before work begins.

How do I find out what a project would cost?

Book a short call and you get a flat number and a timeline before any work starts. The free AI Opportunity Audit is a good first step if you want to see what an engineer would fix first.

A softer step

Not sure if you even need this kind of work?

Most businesses don't need a custom build. They need a clear look at where AI would actually pay off first. That's what the Free AI Opportunity Audit is: tell us about your operation and an AI agent we engineered reads your website and emails you, in about two minutes, three concrete places AI quietly pays for itself, a 90-day plan for the first one, and a website health grade. No call needed and no follow-up sales sequence. The audit is yours whether or not we ever work together.
